Association Chief Works with Transition Year Students on IAIMTY Programme

Association Chief Executive Michael D'Arcy spoke with the students on their final day of the second IAIM TY Programme.

He said he was delighted the association had the opportunity to open a window into asset management , which he described as "a great industry" serving ordinary, working people. Here is what he had to say:

"This is a great industry. There is no doubt about that, but the perception of the industry is completely wrong. When you get right down to the building blocks, the money we look after is for ordinary individuals, working individuals saving or putting into their pension—that is the ultimate function of what we do and where the industry operates.

"Also, if you look at the millions and millions of transactions every year, it is clear that the industry does a really good job of looking after that money."

He added: "It is great to see so many students across Ireland participating in the #IAIMTY Programme, and I wish you all the very best in whatever career or pathway you choose."

He emphasized that it was important to open both a window—and a door—to asset management and the opportunities it has to offer young people across Ireland from all backgrounds.

"Just as importantly—maybe more so—is the role these young people will play in ensuring this industry of national importance continues to flourish. Diversity and inclusion, and diversity of thought, are essential for us to stay ahead and deliver the best results for all the ordinary people we serve around the world saving for their retirement," concluded Michael.
